TOUR #1: City Walking Tour of Old San Juan
(11:30 AM - 4:30 PM)
See modern San Juan as you drive in
air-conditioned comfort through the areas of Isla Verde, Condado, past Fort San
Geronimo, and on into Old San Juan. You will see the beautiful 17th
century Spanish ironwork on the restored homes and note the blue-black glazed
cobblestones used to surface the narrow streets, which were brought to San Juan
as ballast for the Spanish galleons. The tour will include a stop for a
refreshing tropical drink at a local favorite. In addition, you will have time
to explore some of the many interesting shops.
Suggested attire: Comfortable
walking shoes, sunglasses, visor or hat, and sunscreen.
Cost is $100 per person. Minimum 18 guests
required; 150 maximum. Fee includes walking tour guide, admission to
Fort San Cristobal, personalized map of the old city with restaurant and
shopping suggestions, transportation, taxes, and gratuities. Reservation fee
must be submitted with your Leadership Forum registration fee. This tour will
depart from the resort’s El Yunque Foyer. Please arrive 15 minutes before the
scheduled departure time.
TOUR #2: Mini Boat Island Hop and Snorkel Adventure
(11:30 AM - 4:30 PM)
Get ready for a high speed, high
adventure mini boat island hop and snorkel experience! The
tour begins on the docks of the "blue flag" Puerto Chico Marina,
where your Mini Boat guides await you. The
fun begins as we clear the breakwater, heading North-Northeast along the bluffs
of the "Las Cabezas de San Juan" Nature Reserve for thirty minutes to
the uninhabited Icacos Cay, where guests can enjoy snorkel practice, swimming,
and beach exploration. Icacos Cay is one of a string of cays that form the
Cordillera Cays Nature Reserve. The island features incredible turquoise water,
great swimming beaches, coral sands, and a lovely view back to the mainland.
While in Icacos, get acquainted with snorkeling gear and practice free diving
in preparation for our fabulous snorkeling destination - "Cayo
Lobos" (Wolves Cay).
Please note there is a per person
weight limit of 300 pounds. We strongly advise that guests with neck or back
problems and women who are pregnant not participate in the adventure. Mini
boats each hold four people.

clothing, towel, change of clothes, sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen.
Cost
is $175 per person. Minimum 18 guests
required; 24 maximum. Fee includes gratuities, transportation, mini
boats, snorkeling equipment, instruction, fins, snacks, refreshments, and
guides. Reservation fee must be submitted with your Leadership Forum
registration fee. This tour will depart from the resort’s El Yunque Foyer.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
AHRI Golf Tournament #1
(12:00 PM - 5:00 PM)
Bordered by the El Yunque Rainforest’s scenic mountains, the
Mameyes River, and the Atlantic Ocean, the Rio Mar is the only resort on the
island to offer two championship golf courses managed by Troon Golf, the
industry leader in golf course management. The 18-hole courses are gorgeous,
challenging, and perfect for a Caribbean golf getaway.
The River course, designed by two-time Major Champion Greg
Norman, is situated along the serene Mameyes River. Inspired by the natural
terrain of the land, the holes are integrated into existing foliage creating a
lush, verdant course with stunning views of El Yunque’s mountains and the
Atlantic Ocean. Ideal for all skill levels, this 6,945-yard course features
open greens, wide fairways, light rough and shallow bunkers.
Tournament
will be scored using the Modified Stableford scoring system.
A
shuttle will transport players from the El Yunque Foyer to the golf course at
11:30 AM and 11:45 AM, and return to the resort at 5:15 PM and 5:30 PM.
Tee times and foursome pairings
will be provided prior to the Leadership Forum.
Cost is $175 per person. The fee includes
green fees, cart fees, professional management of tournament, personalized
scorecards, bag handling gratuity, taxes, shotgun time start, box lunches, and
beverages. Golf commitment may be cancelled without financial obligation until
October 11, 2019. After October 11, the fee will not be refunded; however,
player substitutions are allowed. Email lmiller@ahrinet.org.
If you
bring your own clubs, you may store them at the resort for the duration of your
stay. Upon arrival, you may leave your golf bag with the valet/bell staff. If
you need your clubs at any time during your stay, simply notify the golf shop
or any golf staff. Tournament players’
clubs will be preloaded on carts the day of the tournament. The hotel recommends ShipSticks to guests choosing to ship
their clubs in advance.
Because we will use the Modified
Stableford scoring system, it is important that you include your handicap in
the “Registration Questions” section of the Event Registration.

Spouse Event: Guiro/Maraca Artisanal Painting Workshop & Bomba Dancing Lesson
(9:30 AM - 11:30 AM)
Join
fellow AHRI spouses for an unforgettable session of painting two of the most
traditional Puerto Rican instruments -- the guiro and the maraca -- followed by a Bomba dancing
lesson, the traditional dance of Puerto Rico.
Originated
by Taino Indians, the guiro consists of an open-ended, hollow gourd with
parallel notches cut in one side. It is
usually played by rubbing a stick or tines along the notches to produce a
ratchet-type sound. See how our guest artisan has combined these instruments
into one and indulge your creative side by painting with beautiful colors this
natural piece of art to take back home with you as a souvenir.
After you
paint your guiro-maraca, you will learn how to Bomba, which is both a
traditional dance and musical style of Puerto Rico.
Cost is $132 per person. Minimum 15 guests required.
TOUR #3: Rum Tasting Tour - Casa Bacardi
(12:00 PM - 4:30 PM)
Your tour carries you out to the
south side of San Juan Harbor, where you will enter the beautifully manicured
grounds of the Bacardi Rum Distillery, the world’s largest distiller of natural
spirits. Upon arrival at the famous Casa Bacardi Pavilion, you will receive a
welcome rum drink in a commemorative souvenir Bacardi cup. You will then be
taken to one of the Distillery’s Ageing Warehouses and participate in a
VIP/Back-of-the-House overview of the facilities.
After the learning portion comes the
fun part… you will enjoy a private rum seminar led by your own Bacardi Brand
Specialist. During the tasting exercise, the Brand Specialist will lead the
group in tasting and understanding each of the products – Bacardi Superior,
Bacardi Cuatro, Bacardi Ocho, Bacardi Diez, Limited Reserve and Special Blend –
and will talk about the ageing process, body, and flavors found in each. Once the experience is completed, you will
receive an Official Certificate of Completion.
Suggested Attire: Comfortable walking
shoes, comfortable clothing, and a camera.
Cost is $160 per person. Minimum 18 guests
required; 30 maximum. Fee includes transportation, taxes, gratuities, and
admission to the Bacardi Distillery Tour and Rum Tasting Tour. Reservation
fee must be submitted with your Leadership Forum registration fee. This tour
will depart from the El Yunque Foyer at the resort. Please arrive 15 minutes
before the scheduled departure time.

marinas, board a catamaran and set sail for a tranquil uninhabited isle for an
afternoon of relaxation and fun. While relaxing aboard, you will have some
spectacular views of Palomino, as well as other small islands and the Cabezas
de San Juan lighthouse. Once the boat has landed on the beach, you can beach
comb, collect shells, swim, and snorkel, in the crystal-clear water, which
stays at 80 degrees or warmer throughout the year.
Recommended attire: Bathing suit
under clothing, cover up from sun, sunblock, towel, and change of clothing.
Cost is $170 per person. Minimum 40 guests required; 48
