COMPLIMENTARY RESORT ACTIVITIES:
The JW Marriott Starr Pass offers a variety of complimentary experiences that will enhance your stay and allow you to better understand the culture and climate of Tucson, Arizona. Please check with the concierge on-site for specific start times of each event.

Mitakuye Oyasin – All My Relations:

Each morning the resort invites you to join your fellow guests on the Salud Terrace to participate in a traditional Native American ceremony and unique Sonoran Desert experience. During the morning ritual, you will experience the warming sunrise, the Native American Flute, the burning of your own sage prayer tie, and an eagle feather blessing that will inspire you to see life from a different perspective. You are afforded the opportunity to begin each day by reflecting on the connection we all have with nature and each other, finding focus and creating lasting memories. In a ritual that is centuries old, you will have the opportunity to make your intentions known to the universe through the traditional burning of sage. Experience the morning ritual and discover “Mitakuye Oyasin.”

Authentic Trail Adventures:

Each morning the resort will host a complimentary 45 minute trail hike. Those participating will meet in the lobby and begin the hike steps from the front drive of the resort. The hike is not strenuous, but is a great way to enjoy the fresh air of the morning and take in the beautiful views. Onward and upward you step over rocks millions of years old to traverse a mountainside filled with Saguaros, Cholla, and Prickly Pear cacti as you walk among Mesquite, Palo Verde and Acacia trees: The foods and medicines of individuals long ago.

The Legend of Arriba Abajo:

Every evening at 5:30 P.M. the resort welcomes you to gather on the Salud Terrace to watch the sunset and experience a nightly tradition: The Tequila toast. The legend of Arriba, Abajo begins with the tradition of a man asking his beloved’s father for her hand in marriage. To hear the rest of the legend, join in for this unique experience where they feature one of their more than 150 artisan tequilas and a complimentary toast: “Arriba, Abajo, al Centro, al Dentro, Salud!” (Up, down, out and in). The perfect way to celebrate with old friends and create new ones.

TRANSPORTATION
The Tucson International Airport (TUS) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) are the two closest airports to the resort and require a drive time of 20 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes, respectively.

For your return trip to the airport on Wednesday, November 14, be sure to make taxi arrangements with the front desk or request an Uber driver 30 minutes prior to your desired departure time from the resort as it takes longer for these services to arrive at the resort than to a standard city hotel.

THE DRIVER PROVIDER
